FAQ

Why have a Boudoir session done?
Why not have a Boudoir session done? Women are choosing to have Boudoir portraits done for many reasons! For their boyfriends, their grooms, their husbands, birthday gifts, anniversary gifts, maternity, bachelorette parties, an awesome girl’s night “out”, and my personal favorite, just because and just for themselves. Boudoir is so much more than just having images done, it’s empowering and a huge confidence booster!
But I’m not as skinny as I want to be?
Psssshhh! Hush now, you are beautiful just the way you are! I’m not kidding, I love shooting boudoir because I truly think all women are stunning in their own right. Of course I am a woman and know that we are not thrilled with all parts of our body. I work through out the session to use proper posing and lighting to minimize those problem areas and highlight the ones you love, so no stressing, I’ve got you taken care of!
What do I wear?
Boudoir sessions can really be in any style of clothing you feel comfortable in. Lingerie, a cute party dress, a men’s button up shirt, a hot bra & panty set, a white tank & a pair of boy shorts, a simple white sheet, or even totally nude. Whatever style is you, it’s important to wear outfits that fit you well, minimize your problem areas and highlight the parts you love and most importantly that you feel comfortable wearing your chosen outfits. Don’t forget the accessories! Accessories are a must and help to complete your look, so bring several options of necklaces (long, short, chunky), rings, bracelets, earrings, hair accessories, and definitely heels! Check out the What To Wear Wednesdays category on this blog for some ideas!
Do I have to be nude?
Absolutely not! The session will go according to your comfort level. We will keep open communication going through the session. I will never have you do something you are not comfortable with! If you love the idea of nudes, then we can certainly incorporate that style into your session!
What about hair and makeup?
I highly recommend having your hair and makeup professionally done. Along with accessories, it’s an important part of completing your look! A Professional hair stylist and makeup artist will know how to compliment your style and how to apply makeup for the camera. Makeup needs to be applied darker and more dramatic to show up on camera so make sure your makeup artist knows you are having photos done. Hair and makeup should be completed prior to the session start time.
Where do you shoot Boudoir sessions?
Boudoir sessions can be held in several different locations! If you or a friend has a nicely decorated home, we can shoot there. A fashionably decorated hotel room is another great option, I recommend Hotel 43, The Grove Hotel, or The Modern Hotel. I also offer a fashionably decorated in home Boudoir shooting room that you are more than welcome to take advantage of, this option works really well because we can stylize the session a bit more. Don’t forget outdoors as well, I’ve done desert style boudoir sessions and boudoir sessions in a forest & lake even!
What kind of re-touching do you do?
I do my very best as a professional Boudoir photographer to use proper posing and lighting to minimize your problem areas and bring out the ones you love so that re-touching is needed less. However, all of the image proofs in your gallery are re-touched for blemishes, skin smoothing, an a minor amount of tucking if needed. Drastic re-touching is outsourced and an extra charge.
Can I bring a friend?
Certainly! In fact, I recommend having a friend tag along with you for moral support. Friend’s can be a wonderful asset to ease those pre-session nerves and are a great way for me to pull out those gorgeous natural smiles!
What if I don’t want my images shown publicly?
Although, I really love when my clients give me full release to share their stunning images online, I never force it! I offer two different model releases to choose from: full release & anonymous release. Even when choosing the full release, I always run the images I plan to put online by you first to make sure you are truly comfortable with them being out there. The anonymous release is giving me permission to show images that do not show your face and the same “I only show images you are comfortable with” policy applies here as well.
How soon will I see my images?
Up to 30 image proofs will be ready to view at your In Person Ordering Session within 2 weeks from your Boudoir session.
What is an In Person Ordering Session?
An In Person Ordering Session is an hour long session at my in-home presentation studio. This session takes place approximately two weeks after your session. This is when you will view your images and order your prints and products with my help walking you through the process. This session is meant as a quality service to you and is in no way a high pressured sales tactic. I simply walk you through your images, offer advice, show samples and help you choose the best way you would like to display your portraits. For more details, like when payment is due, CLICK HERE.
How much should I expect to spend?
Contact me for a full Boudoir Menu to view all pricing and product information. My clients typically invest $800 – $2500 on a Boudoir session which includes the creative fee, prints, albums, or other products available. Any special outfits, accessories, hair and makeup, and hotel locations are additional costs that will add to your investment and are up to you to purchase/schedule.
Can I purchase digital files from my session?
An all digital, all inclusive collection is available. Please contact me for a full list of Boudoir pricing.
